Former Spokesperson of Afenifere and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye has described the decision by the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in the House of Representatives to block the passage of the 2014 Budget as
a declaration of war on Nigerians.

Adeyeye, who said it was imperative to alert Nigerians, especially Ekiti people on the anti-people’s stands of the APC, wondered why the party members in the House of Representatives were not talking about putting right whatever they feel were wrong about the Budget rather than threatening to frustrate its passage.

In a release issued today and made available to journalists, Adeyeye described the APC lawmakers’ position as a continuation of their party’s devilish plot to make Nigeria ungovernable for President Goodluck Jonathan, saying “any attempt to kill the Nigeria project because of some individuals’ desperation for power will fail.”

The governorship aspirant said it was painful that the APC and its leaders do not consider the overall interests of Nigeria and its people in their blinded quest to take over the Federal Government.

Adeyeye said; “First, it was  wanton killing of youth corpers and destruction of properties in some States in the North during the 2011 general elections, then Boko Haram insurgency followed, now they are threatening to shut down the economy of the country by threatening to stop passage of the 2014 Budget.

“It is on record that in their desperate bid to take over power in Ekiti State, that was the same way they invaded the State with thugs and kidnappers after they lost the 2007 governorship election.

“It is on record that Charles Ovie Ojo, who was arrested in connection with murder of three State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) officials (SP Mohammed Manua, CPL Wasiu Olatunbosun and CPL Simeon Obadero), murder of Kehinde Fasuba, kidnap and murder of the Attah of Aiyede, Oba Adeleye Orisagbemi, former Provost of College of Education; Dr Gabriel Olowoyo and others linked top APC leaders in the State to his activities. Up till today, no one can say precisely what has happened to Charles Ovie because he was never charged to court.

“Also, all steps taken towards developing Ekiti State by the immediate past PDP government were opposed by the then ACN members in the State House of Assembly just because their leaders mandated them to make the State ungovernable.

“Now, they are introducing the same strategy that they used in Ekiti to the House of Representatives, not-minding the negative effects on Nigerians.

“Or isn’t it more reasonable for them to correct whatever anomalies that they have noticed in the 2014 Budget proposal instead of threatening to block its passage? Don’t they as legislators have rights to make inputs into the budget before they pass it?

“It has therefore become necessary that these APC people are told in clear terms that they don’t own Nigeria and that they should stop wagging war against Nigerians just because they won’t power at all cost.”
