Immediate past Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Theodore Orji says the latter has made the difference in the governance of the state since it was created.

In an interview with our correspondent, Emezue who described the achievements of the governor as visionary and first of its kind in Abia state, accused his predecessors of playing to the gallery during their respective tenures.

“Without being immodest, I accuse Gov. Orji’s predecessors of playing to the gallery during their tenure. The facts are glaring. None of them cared for the development of the state. Can you just point out any remarkable achievement they recorded while they were here? Before the coming of Gov. Orji, Umuahia was a glorified state capital with no good road, poor infrastructure and all that. When you take a look at the type of project the governor has undertaken; the New Government House, International Conference Centre, new workers’ secretariat? It tells you about one who is in a hurry to develop the state and leave it better than he met it. If these structures he has been erecting were there since the creation of Abia state in 1991, will Gov. Orji be building them today? He would have done something else. By now, he would have completed the airport project. So, what I’m telling you is that Abia state only witnessed real governance and development during this tenure because Gov. Orji has cahnged the face of the state with his legacy projects. Gov. Orji has made the difference. He has emerged the father of a new Abia,” Emezue said.

The former chief press secretary added that Gov. Orji’s developmental strides in various sectors such as Health, Housing, youth empowerment programmes and skill acquisition, among others, portrays him as a man of vision who considers the interest of the state paramount.

He called on the people of the state, particularly the elders to support the efforts of the governor to better the lot of Abians. According to him, “Since Gov. Orji has proved himself as a governor who is positively committed to change a lot of things about Abia, there is every good reason for all the people of the state at home and in Diaspora, some of who fought for its creation to contribute their quota to support Gov. Orji. This is because when you support someone doing well, it makes him do more.”
