The Anti Robbery Squad of the Aba Area Command and Zone 9 of the Nigerian Police have rescued a bank manager,

Mr. Akwara Stanley from the hand of his abductors.

Stanley, who serves as the branch manager of Diamond Bank in Owerri Nta, Isiala Ngwa South Local council of Abia State was kidnapped around 8pm last Monday on his way from work as he stopped to buy things from a roadside shop beside Binez hotel, Umungasi, Aba.

247ureports.com sources hinted that the bank manager was rescued in the early hours of yesterday (Wednesday), after the police team invaded the camp of the kidnappers in a location which is being kept secret.

Abia state Commissioner of Police, Usman Tilli Abubakar who made this known in Umuahia stated that the banker was rescued unhurt and without payment of ransom and has since been reunited with his family.

The CP did not disclose the location where the banker was rescued, but added that 9 persons who were arrested in connection with the incident were being detained by the police.

A shop owner who witnessed the incident told our correspondent that from the way the kidnap was executed, it was clear that gunmen have been trailing the banker for a very long time.

According to him, “They did not shoot at anyone, the only thing they did was to shoot in the air to scare people away after they laid siege of the man’s Toyota Camry car.”
