There was another drama at the Rivers state House of Assembly when the lawmakers were about entering the premise of the Assembly to commence their legislative activities today being Thursday since the federal high court has reversed the decision of the National assembly to take over the legislative functions of the Rivers state House of Assembly which engulfed by crisis.
The drama between the Rivers state police command started when the lawmakers loyal to Governor Amaechi came with a large numbers of their supporters with a sign of readiness to confront any negative situation.
The lawmakers loyal to Amaechi were barricaded by Rivers state police officers from proceeding into the premises because of they accompanying by their supporters
Supporters to pro Amaechi lawmakers started arriving the complex as early as 6am on Thursday with different buses.
To further prevent hoodlums from fomenting more crisis officers of the state command shoot live bullet on air and also release teargas
Meanwhile, in its reaction  the People Democratic Party, Rivers state chapter alleged that those who accompany the lawmakers loyal to Amaechi are hooligans stressing that occupying the premises of the Rivers state House of Assembly complex by Governor Amaechi is provocative and further threatens the peace of Rivers state.
The party said this in statement sign to journalists in Port Harcourt via the Special Adviser on Media, Jerry Needam to the state party chairman Bro Felix Obuah
The statement further  observes that Governor Amaechi’s action of attaching armed thugs to the Assembly members loyal to him has not only undermined the right and quest of the people to have a peaceful legislative business in the State, but also an abuse of the privileges and respect for the office of the Governor.
The Party condemns in strong terms the hiring of thugs in buses in an attempt to take over the Assembly, and also wonders why such twist in his reaction to the Abuja High Court Judgment when shortly after the ruling, his Commissioner for Information, Ibim Semenitari said the government rejected the judgment and has filed both stay of execution and appeal motions against the decision of the Court.
The PDP says if the Governor is uncomfortable with the ruling of the Court on the Assembly’s resumption of functions, the best way to go about it would have been to appeal against it as stated by his Commissioner for Information, rather than using State’s resources to ignite crisis by arming and deploying vicious youths to the Assembly Complex.
“The Party unequivocally says the action of the Governor is unacceptable and will not sit down and watch the State completely destroyed by him (Amaechi) and those who do not want progress and meaningful development in the State,” it emphasized.
