2 Blackmail Cons Nabbed For Extortion, Abduction In Enugu

IFEANYI EZUGWU,ENUGU.
Two serial blackmail cons who specializes in abducting their victim and coerce them to pose nude for a photograph which will be published has been napped in Enugu.

Luck ran out on them on the 10th of October when operatives of the anti-kidnap unit of Enugu state Police command acting on surveillance report, swooped on them at their hide out.

The suspects,Chibuzor Egu,male and Loveth Ozonwa,female, lured a priest to their residence, coerced him to undress completely and took his nude photographs ostensibly for publication.

They immediately demanded for one hundred thousand naira from the priest to halt the publication just as investigation revealed that the priest,identified as Kingsley Amakor, residing at Ugbene, Abakpa, hails from the same village with the female suspect and both have known each other for quite some time.

Loveth Ozonwa, a divorcee, who owns a shop at No 32/34 Oliver Agbo street, off Meniru,Awkunanaw, residing with her boyfriend(Chibuzor Egu),at No 25 Umuchi street Idaw-River Enugu, hoodwinked the priest by urging him to come and know were she was domicile given that both of them know each other.

The suspects allegedly stripped the priest naked with the assistance of other accomplices that are yet-to-be arrested and demanded for the ransom or risk the publication.

The anti-kidnap unit of the command gut wind of the water passing under the bridge and swiftly moved in to apprehend the suspects.

When the net was dropped on the suspects, shots of photographs taken from their victim was recovered and are presently asking for leniency saying,”we never knew what we were doing. We don’t know how to see the priest now so that we can beg him for forgiveness of our wrongs but sincerely speaking,we are sorry about the whole thing”.

Chibuzo Egu is an Industrial Chemistry graduate.

A full scale investigation have commenced while the Police through the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu is calling on the public to,”always volunteer information to security agencies whenever there is a breach of law in order to forestall breakdown of law and order in the society”.
