Fellow Compatriots,

We commend the senate arm of National Association of Nigerian students
(NANS) for the impeachment of Comerade. Yinka Gbadebo as the president
of NANS.. It is a welcome development and it shows that there are
still comrades who are willing to revive the dead spirit of “ALUTA” in
this nation of ours. We also want to use this medium to congratulate
the New president of the association, Comrade Jubril Ahmed , as he
takes on mantle of leadership and we also urge him to do his best in
protecting the good intrests of Nigerian students.

In 1980, NANS became the umbrella body of Nigerian Students. The body
is meant to defend the interest of Nigerian Students all over the
country and ensure that the right of its members are defended at all
times. NANS was a strong movement in the 80’s and 90’s which moved
against the military junta and became the albatross of oppressive
governments in the country.

It is thus unfortunate that NANS lead by Comr. Yinka Gbadebo, has lost
its relevance as a Voice for Nigerian Students, it has become a
sounding cymbal which does not add harmonious tunes to songs. It is no
longer the voice of Nigerian Students and thus has lost credibility
among many Nigerian Students.

Also, we want to use this opportunity to call on the Academic staff
union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) and the Federal government, for
the interest of all Nigerian students to go back to the negotiating
table and look for a lasting solution towards putting an end to the
strike action which has made many students/youths to endulge in
various criminal activities and the ladies into prostitution.

As youths from the most peaceful region in Nigeria, we are concerned
about the welfare of our students and we strongly kick against any act
that will lead most of us into criminal acts.
