INTRODUCTION:- Members of the command’s Management team, ladies and gentlemen of the Press, it is a great pleasure to welcome you once again to this kind of gathering, where we display some of the most remarkable achievements and breakthrough recorded in the last couple of weeks. I will have to say thanks to the general public for the cooperation in terms of furnishing timely information through which we achieve these successes. Likewise, I thank the press for showing concern on security situation of the state and making fair reportage. Also special commendation to the officer in charge of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) SP. KOLO YUSUF, and his men for spearheading the breakthrough and achievements by the command. Below are some major achievements recorded.
(1). CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND ARMED ROBBERY:- On 09/08/2013 at about 1000hrs based on tip-off, a team of operatives attached to SARS Kano led by Sp.Kolo Yusuf, while on surveillance patrol within Bachirawa qtrs arrested one Surajo Usman and Abdullahi Ibrahim all of Bachirawa qtrs in connection with armed robbery and theft of M/Vehicle. The suspects made confessional statements that they belong to a gang of armed robbery that are operating in Kano Metropolis. They led Police to the recovery of three M/Vehicle which they stole. They are cooperating with the Police investigation and will soon be arraigned before the court.
(2). CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND ARMED ROBBERY:-On 14/08/2013 at about 1300hrs based on information, detectives from the command’s SARS led by Sp. Kolo Yusuf, arrested one Musa Ibrahim aka SOJA ‘m’ of She she qtrs Kano, Dauda Muhammad, Ali sheriff and Abdullahi Salisu aka MAI ABINCHI of no fix addresses for having conspired and formed a gang of armed robbery terrorizing people in Kano city. They made confessional statements and led the Police to the recovery of two Honda motor vehicles and their operational locally made pistol, case under investigation.
(3). CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND ARMED ROBBERY:- On 06/08/2013 at about 1330hrs, one Habibu Sani ‘m’ of Unguwa Uku qtrs Kano conspired with one DanGombe and DanBorno all of no fixed address, armed themselves with locally made pistol and attacked their victim, part him the sum of N60,000.00K. They were arrested in possession of the loot and a locally made pistol. Case has already being charge to court for prosecution.
(4). CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND ARMED ROBBERY:- On the 01/08/2013 at about 0230hrs based on information a Toyota liteace bus was sighted with five occupants at a village in Dawakin Tofa LGA Kano state, in a suspicious manner, they were immediately pursued and one Alhaji Audu Abdulkarim, Sani Rabiu and Sani Audu ‘m’ of various addresses were arrested in possession of a locally made pistol and two rounds of ammunitions. The suspects confessed to have been on a mission to carry out armed robbery operation in the area. They mentioned to have possessed of one AK47 riffle with twenty rounds of life ammunitions in possession of one of their gang member who is now atlarge. Efforts are being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects and recover their operational arms.
(5). CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND ARMED ROBBERY AND THEFT:-On 05/08/2013 at about 0900hrs based on information one Muhammad Hamisu, Habibu Garba, Nura muhd, Sa’adu Nasidi and Hassan Ibrahim ‘m’ of various address were arrested for having conspired and form a gang of thieves who specialized in snatching Motorcycle from rightful owners. They made a confessional statements and led Police to the recovery of four motorcycle, a bunch of keys and the arrest of their receiver in person of Mansur Muhammad. Case is under investigation.
(6). CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE:- On 19/08/2013 at about 2015hrs a team of SARS personnel on patrol within Kano Metropolitan arrested one Haruna Lawal ‘m’ of Rikos qtrs, Jos Plateau State in possession of a Honda CRV black in colour with registration No. LE 696 AAA reasonably suspected to be stolen. Upon his arrest, he confessed to have conspired with two others now at large and stole the vehicle. The suspect is helping police investigation.
(7). ARREST OF NOTORIOUS THIEVE:- On 13/08/2013 about 2030hrs, a team of operatives on patrol within Tudun Wada area arrested one Ibrahim Salisu Aminu ‘m’ of Tudun Wada qtrs in connection with theft of Motorcycle. The suspect confessed to have stolen six motorcycles which were promptly recovered. He will soon be charge to court for prosecution.
(8). CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND ILLEGAL POSSESION OF PROHIBITED FIREARMS AND ATTEMPT TO COMMIT OFFENCE ARMED ROBBERY:-On 26th August, 2013 at about 1140hrs, a team of Policemen while on patrol within Dorayi qtrs intercepted one Lawan Sani ‘m’ of Malumfashi LGA Katsina State and Sani Yakubu ‘m’ of Sabon Gari Zaria, Kaduna State for wandering about in a suspicious manner. On spot search revealed the discovery of two locally made pistol and four cartridges with them. They confessed to have come to Kano with intention to carry out armed robbery attacks at Sabuwar gandu, Nassarawa GRA, Gyadi-Gyadi and Dorayi qtrs in Kano. They mentioned two other who are now atlarge. Investigation is in top gear to arrest the other suspects and charge them to court for prosecution.
SUMMARY:-
- 20 Suspects arrested for armed robberies and car theft/motorcycle thieves.
- Four locally made pistols recovered.
- 12 Motor vehicles recovered.
- 21 Motorcycles recovered.
- 18 rounds of cartridges recovered.
