Senator Chris Ngige, easily the candidate to beat in these years gubernatorial elections in Anambra State has unified his political structures with that of his predecessor in the Senate and erstwhile rival for the ticket Senator Annie Okonkwo turning the two into a formidable political campaign organisation led by Okonkwo to return Ngige to the government House in March next year.

The formal announcement was made by both parties to thousands of supporters and party faithful and followers of the two aspirants as well as others in the All Progressive Congress (APC) at a mini-rally knocked together to seal the deal struck two days again Abuja , after over a moth of hard negotiations.

Governor Of Imo State who attended the rally announced in an emotion—laden voice that ‘If Chukuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu were alive today he would be the first to join APC, because he cannot be part of the charade going on in APGA-PDP, after the death of his own APGA.

Okorocha said he was inspired and is happy to have been a part in breaking what he described as ‘PHD politics of Anambra State’. H explained that PhD is not Doctor of Philosophy, but ‘Pull him dowm’, that has become a feature of Anambra politics which all of us here-South East leaders in APC have rejected.

He said ‘We in the APC, particularly in the South East are defining a new way of playing politics which should bother on teamwork’ Senator Ngige has not given Senator Okonkwo one kobo to step down for him and that is the new APC culture that our brothers in the PDP do not practise.

To illustrate, he said APC has successfully avoided what our brother in the PDP have been ding by talking N10 million each ,in 17 places to Abuja when there is no town in Ala Igbo that cannot see a significant change when N17 million is invested in it.

‘The worst part of it is that the party they are giving this money is the one that has so rubbished and humiliated Ndigbo to the point where we are not holding presidency or Vice; we are not holding the position of Senate President or Speaker of the Federal House, and we are also not holding the chairmanship of the ruling party’ Okorocha lamented, insisting that ‘these positions are the power centres in the Nigerian National Equation’

Continuing he said: ‘What you can go say with today is come 2015, there is no way these positions listed will be shared without Ndigbo getting at least one, particularly President or Vice President’

Said he: ‘The period of primaries or elections is a time when some party officials set a money-making trap. There is no such thing in APC. We are keeping the money the east needs to develop in the east’

Okorocha re-confirmed that APC primaries to pick a candidate for Anambra State governorship elections will hold on September 2, 2013, to formally pick the flag bearer of our party in Anambra State gubernatorial race, where Ngige will still face two other aspirants.

Senator Osita Izunaso, National Organising Secretary of APC who moderated the rally had earlier in his speech declared that the APC is owned by Ndigbo’
To buttress his position Izunaso listed nine national positions out of 29, occupied by Ndigbo in the national executive of APC. All nine officers addressed the rally.
