Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today held a parallel Governorship primary to elect its Governorship flag bearer.

One faction led by Ejike Oguebego held its primary at Emmaus House while another faction led by Prince Ken Emekaiye held its own at Alex Ekwueme square after accrediting at Women Development center Awka.

Senator Andy Uba representing Anambra South in the National Assembly at exactly 6:25 pm was announced winner of the Oguebego faction by the returning officer, Dr K.C Enemuoh with 645 votes.

Uba who emerged a factional candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November 16, 2013 governorship election in Anambra State, assured he would reach out to others for a formidable party to clinch the Anambra Governorship.

Uba scored 645 votes to beat Senator Emma Anosike, who had 110 votes, Dr. Jerry Ugokwe, who scored 86 votes and Patrick Ugbomah who had 89 votes.

The other aspirants, Mike Okoye had 22 votes, Mr. Ugochukwu Okeke, 20 votes; Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, 17 votes; Mrs. Josephine Anenih, 3 votes; Mr. Walter Okeke 2 votes and Mr. Tony Nwoye had 1 vote.

The returning officer of the primary, Dr. Kenneth Enemuoh said, “Senator Andy Uba has been declared the winner of the primaries having scored 645 votes.”

Aside Uba, only Senator Emma Anosike, Ugo Okeke , Patrick Ugbomah and Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe were present at the field while others whose results were announced were at the other factional primary at Alex Ekwueme Square.
In his response, Uba, who burst into a song in Igbo saying, ‘God you promised to lift me. Here I am standing before you. Lift me up,’ declared, “I am promising Mr. President that PDP is going to win Anambra State. I am calling on everybody who has been on this fight to come together and plan how to take Anambra State back.”

He assured that he would reach out to other contestants to enable them work as a family and work together to win the governorship race. He pointed that the primary election was free and fair but reminded that the war had taken so long but with all kinds of confusion.

Uba therefore appealed for all to sheath their swords and prepare for the election and thanked God for His grace.
Factional State Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Ejike Oguebego, said he thanked God the congress and primaries went on peacefully and smoothly and therefore cannot be faulted. He said everything happening was transmitted life to Nigerians.

He denied knowledge of another primary congress being conducted by another faction of the party at the Alex Ekwueme Square even as he assured that they would reach out for a progressive party that would take over government house by November 17. He added that this is the authentic party leadership and primary.

Reports that the Prince Ken Emekaiyi faction of PDP was still at a parallel congress of the party late into the night at the Alex Ekwueme Square under tight security, as delegates were escorted by security men from the Women Development Centre where accreditation was held to the venue of the primaries.

There was an allegation of crisis erupting at the women development center and the venue was tear gassed. People ran helter skelter.

The Emmaus House primary was sanctioned by the Independent National Electoral Commission, while the Ekwueme Square primary is endorsed by the National Working Committee of the PDP.

That of Emmaus House was orderly even though, high powered consensus appeared to have been reached before the election with Ugochukwu Okeke appearing to have a dissent but was allegedly persuaded by his people to accept the situation. The five aspirants were seen discussing and exchanging banters freely with some members of the PDP National Assembly and state Assembly members in attendance.

Unconfirmed fillers from the Alex Ekwueme said that Ukachuwku was in an early lead. People were not allowed close even vehicles not those ones from the party fleet.

If that becomes true at last it means that , Ukachukwu and Andy Ubah again the most popular candidates in the lot contesting emerges as candidates for PDP, it means what happened in Anambra South senatorial election would happen again.

In that election people voted for candidates and that gave Ukachukwu and Uba victory before the party said it was Uba that they knew.
