A leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Dr
Alex Obiogbolu has described the idea that the North Senatorial zone
of the state should produce the next governor as most auspicious.
Obiogbolu, in a press briefing in Awka yesterday told journalists that
he was of the school of thought that strongly believe in the North
agenda as canvassed by the incumbent governor, Mr Peter Obi, that it
was ideal in the interest of equity for the zone to have the shot at
the coveted seat this time.
He also thanked the community and traditional leaders from all over
“the seven councils that comprise the zone for throwing their weights
behind my aspiration”.
According to him, “the royal fathers and the Town Union executives
have after a painstaking screening process chose me as the standard
bearer. For that I thank them immensely.
Obiogbolu who confirmed he was on his third attempt at the race
assured he would remain steadfast in the PDP even if he was not
nominated.
He denied accusations that he was actually fronting for another
unnamed aspirant, stressing he had been so accused in the past.
