Non Indigenes in the employment of the state owned Television and Radio arm of the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS) are in a trying moment as some of the staff mostly non will soon taste the bitter piles of unemployment, Fresh fact emerged from the broadcasting outfit that the attempt of disengaging non indigenes according to our source that unraveled that has saturated the media house is a cause of concerned to the state Government.
A grapevine from the hill top said the aim was meant to create an enabling environment for the able and unemployed indigene of the state, Reliable source confided to 247ureports.com that most of those to be affected from the lay-off are mostly women from Benue, Kaduna and Plateau state ,Adding that the existence of non-indigenes in the state owned media outfit will not argue well to the state with the number of graduates [indigenes] of Mass Communication roaming the street.
An acolyte to the state Governor who pleaded anonymity said the attempt was meant to sanitize the organization so as to pave way to indigents of the state to contribute their quota in the Nasarawa state project.
According to informed spectators, the position of the state Government has added salt to the unhealed wound – following the winding-off of the state owned print media, Nasarawa Publishing Company, The publishers of Nigerian Newsday and Nasara (Hausa tabloid) by the present administration of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura – where over 86 staff members of the moribund organization were sacked.
The disengagement saga in spite of the track record of the committed Governor has cast the Al Makura administration in bad light – creating the impression that Governor Al-Makura has turned against state workers – particularly following the sacking of 7000 employees of Local Government councils.
