Abia Gov’t Set To Host Youth Carnival In Aba

Abia State government has reiterated her readiness to host over one thousand youths and investors who are expected to witness the maiden edition of “Miss Enyimba Beauty pageant and Enyimba Youth Carnival in Aba.

Senior Special Assistant to the state governor on Youth Development, Mr. Maduka Uwadi who briefed newsmen in Aba said the event is an opportunity for Nigerians and foreign investors to explore the rich economic potentials of the city and the state at large,.

Uwadi who was flanked at the briefing by the former Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. Ekele Nwaohanmuo and a representative of Culture TV Entertainment, Mr. Peterson Agu expressed hope that the event would create opportunity for businessmen in Aba to hold talks with investors who would be in the state for the event.

“The Abia State government is solidly behind this project as it will provide the opportunity for investors to visit Aba, the commercial center of the state to see for themselves why Aba is called the Enyimba city and ‘Japan of Africa. Aba was carefully chosen as a host city in order to woo investors into the commercial city and also to correct all the negative impressions about the city and the state at large.”

The Special Assistant assured participants and visitors coming for the event of their safety, stressing that the state government and various security agencies in the state were working tirelessly to ensure a hitch-free beauty pageant and youth carnival in the city.

Sources hinted that the event billed to hold May 31st at the pavilion of the Abia state Polytechnic, Aba is said to have attracted the interest of corporate bodies as Luxury City and 3R hotels as well as Aba North and Osisioma local government councils are sponsoring the event.

In his address, Event Director and representative of Culture TV Entertainment, Mr. Peterson Agu said that the programme would serve as an opportunity to expose Abia and Nigerian youths who are gifted with raw talents in musical and fashion industries to the international scene as investors from these sectors would be on ground to witness the event.

Agu added that the event is patterned after the popular Calabar carnival and would also be held annually like the latter.

“The event is carefully designed to create a favorable environment for youths to compete, be trained and exposed to the international scene. It will give the winner the opportunity to compete and walk on different runways across the world. In all, the Enyimba Youth Carnival is designed to create a platform for youth through intellectual interaction, exchange of ideas and display of raw skills. The carnival is aimed to serve as a tool to for evangelism to invite the whole world to Aba. Over 1000 youths will feature in the carnival,” Agu said.

He hinted that some individuals, associations and corporate organizations that have contributed to the growth and development of Aba and Abia State would be honoured at the occasion with “The Enyimba Merit Award.”

“The awardees were chosen because of their visible contributions to the development and promotion of trading in Aba and the State,” he stated.
