Gunmen yesterday night ambushed a police patrol vehicle at Yankaba market in Kano and killed three policemen.
The policemen were said to be on routine patrol in the area when they came under fire from the attackers. Police sources said one of the slain cops was an officer attached to Bompai division in the state. Residents said the patrol vehicle was damaged in the attack, which occurred after 8pm.
A senior police officer, who confirmed the incident last night, said commissioner of police for the state Alhaji Musa Daura visited the scene of the attack along with other key police personnel.
