Honourable members the Ogun State House of Assembly threw caution to the winds on Tuesday as they engaged in a supremacy battle. At the sitting on Tuesday, the leadership of the House announced the suspension of four members namely Adijat Oladipo, Allen-Taylor, Remi Hassan and Hon Akintan Job. Those suspended however rejected the suspension outright, which led to a shouting match in the assembly chamber.

The supposedly suspended members also announced that the Speaker, Hon Suraj Adekunbi had been suspended and that Hon Remi Hassan has been elected as the new Speaker. The timely arrival and intervention of the police prevented the situation from degenerating further. Those who had gathered were dispersed with tear gas by the police.

Street Journal gathered that the crisis may not be unconnected with the bond of N 150 billion being proposed by the Executive. The suspended members have allegedly been seen as the ones who can antagonize the passage of the motion for the bond. Allen Taylor, one of the suspended Honourables disclosed that the “state does not need the bond now. The plot is to suspend four of us so that they can have two third majority to support the bond. Why collect another needless loan when you cannot account for the previous ones?” Taylor queried.

In the confusion, the mace, the House’s symbol of authority got broken.
