The Rivers State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, says the Merger of opposition political parties in the country, ahead of the 2015 general elections will bring to an end the one party system operational in the State by the Peoples Democratic Party. This will also mark the end of flagrant disregard for the rule of law, self centredness and acts of prodigality on the State.

The publicity secretary of the State Action Congress of Nigeria, Jerry Needam expressed this while speaking on the successful merger of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the country.

“The merger is a welcome development. It shall entrust political leadership of Rivers State in the hands of progressives, God fearing democrats and men and women with the highest sense frugality with respect to tax payers’ money”.

“The merger shall further bring about healthy political competition in Rivers State that would produce exceptional office holders and put paid to PDP style of handpicking mediocres, political jobbers and thugs as government officials.”

“The merger family in Rivers State that constitutes 75 percent of the population of the state shall swallow up the inconsequential number of opportunists who have been mismanaging the state economy”.
