The Bayelsa State Government has announced the closure of all the camps in Yenagoa, saying it has commenced the process of resettling some of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) from the various camps to their respective communities.

The Secretary to the Bayelsa state Government, (SSG), Professor Edmund Allison-Oguru, said though the state government is working on the modalities to be adopted for the fumigation of the flooded areas of the state, the flood management committee have commenced arrangement for the provision of transport arrangement for the displaced persons that might be willing to resettle back to their homes.

The Bayelsa SSG, Prof. Edmund Allison-Oguru, who disclosed this while receiving a truck load of relief materials from a youth empowerment group, Sidoni Foundation Yesterday led by the Founder, Ambassador Selekaye Victor-Ben, said the evacuation process have started and that a good number of displaced persons have moved back to their homes.

He said “as we speak I am giving to understand that a good number of them have started moving to their homes, we commend such persons, in fact there is even a specific case where we were told that the people who were moving back are moving back because they want to ensure that the fish that is entrapped in the waterlogged areas can be caught now.”

The SSG commended the founder and members of the Sidoni Foundation for the relief materials presented to the victims of the flood and promised to partner with the M.Sidoni group as they embark on continuous youths advocacy and empowerment programme in the state.

The Founder of the group, Dr. Selekaye Victor-Ben, represented by the General Manager of the M.Sidoni group, Prince Collins Odondiri told the SSG that the relief materials is a token to show their support for the victims of the flood in the state and a show that the group is with them in the time of need.
