National Congress for Democrats, an NGO engaged in the war against corrupt practices and other related crimes in Nigeria, has called on the FCT administration to probe the stewardship of his sacked chief of staff, Musa Umar Yashi.

In a press release signed by Yakubu Alhaji Jibrin, secretary of the NGO and made available to journalists, it was stated that the circumstances surrounding the sack or compulsory resignation of Musa Umar Yashi should not be swept under the carpet but be made public in the interest of good governance and probity.

According to the NGO, prior to his sack, there were several allegations of corrupt practices levied against him that include the purchase of an N800million mansion situated at No.36 Medeira st, Maitama, Abuja, allocation of a plot of land to his 4-year old daughter and ownership of several plots of land at choice areas within the FCT that were not investigated.

The stewardship of Musa Umar Yashi and the director treasury, Ibrahim Bomoi should be thoroughly investigated. The duo, are alleged to be behind several corrupt practices rocking the FCDA as well as one Adamu Yahaya, a former customs officer who is said to have influenced the recruitment of most of the minister’s political aides including the sacked chief of staff”.

The NGO alleged that the said Adamu Yahaya has hijacked most of the functions of the FCT Minister as he maintains a notorious gang of criminals that specialize in carting away approved land allocations in connivance with staff of Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) that have itchy fingers.

EFCC was handling a case of extortion against one Manu Muhammed and Abdul Azeez who swindled several plot applicants to various sums of money. Adamu Yahaya is alleged to be behind such scandals as he serves as the shield against any disciplinary measure his minister brother might want to take. He has amassed so much illegal wealth including the purchase of two houses located in Bauchi GRA at N70million and another edifice in Kaduna at same amount from the same person who was a onetime speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly”.

The NGO appealed to the EFCC and other relevant agencies to probe the source of Adamu’s wealth for posterity and in the interest of good governance.
