Yuguda commends peace initiative in Bogoro LGA as Fulani herdsmen return

Bauchi State Government has commendedthe Bogoro community for coexisting peaceful among themselves irrespective ofethno religious and or political differences calling on others to emulate themso that the peaceful atmosphere that exist in the state will be sustained.

Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda madethe commendation following a move by the Fulani who fled the area at the wakeof the incessant crises in the area but have decided to return having been assuredof peaceful coexistence by other ethnic groups in the area as contained in aPress Statement from the office of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,Ishola Michael Adeyemi.

The Governor according the release assuredthat his administration will continue to pursue peace and peaceful coexistenceamong the different people in the state irrespective of the differences inreligion, language and political affiliation stressing that it is only in a peacefulatmosphere that development and positive progress can be made.

He also commended those who initiatedthe peace move which led to the return of those who had earlier on fled theareas due to crisis urging them to intensify efforts to ensure that others yetto come back did so because according to him, wherever one chooses to live, heor she should live there in peace and tolerate others around him.

Government according to him willensure that lives and properties of all innocent citizens were protected whileit will not hesitate to deal with anyone or group of persons no matter theirstatus who want to disrupt the peace presently being enjoyed in the state.

Following a peace move by some people fleeingFulani herdsmen have decided to rerun to Gubdiya, Kizim,Gisha, Gelu, Dan Koki,Garlan, Tudun Wada, Dogon Tsamiya, Anguwan Lere, Anguwan Tabo, Dundu andAnguwan Sarkin Fulani villages all in Bogoro LGA where over 150 households havebeen resettled.

Meanwhile the Bauchi state Governmenthas appealed to the Christian community in Marraban Gumau to be a bit patience withit as efforts are being made to rehabilitate all the places of worshipdestroyed during the 2011 post election violence.

The government in a statementregretted that a few people misappropriated money donated by some concerned personsfor the purposes of rehabilitating the destroyed places of worship declaringhowever that the concerned people have been arrested by security agents andinvestigations have since commenced to ascertain what actually happened.

The statement signed by the chiefPress Secretary to the Governor, Ishola Michael Adeyemi contained that governmentwill continue to promote religious harmony among the different people in thestate just as it will ensure that lives and properties were protected whileeverybody will allowed to practice his or her religious faith without hindranceprovided he or she will not disrupt the practice of others religious belief.
