Okorocha Orders Council Chairmen To Resume Work

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has given a directive to the 27
Local Government council Chairmen to resume work without delay.

Okorocha gave the directive during a meeting with Imo State
stakeholders at Sam Mbakwe Expanded Exco Chambers, Government House,
Owerri, in which the 27 Local Government chairmen were also invited.

Governor Okorocha said “it is a bold step taken by me to ensure peace
in the state and to ensure a way forward. This government is law
abiding and will always abide by the rule of law’
The governor expressed disappointment over the absence of the 27 Local
Government chairmen despite the extension of olive branch to them
which also led to inviting them for another meeting on Monday 30th
July, 2012.

He noted that the state has witnessed a resounding revolution in the
area of infrastructural development, road construction and free
education even as he stressed that the administration does not need
any distraction in its determination to transform the state.

He urged the Chairmen to stop playing politics and embrace governance
by partnering with his administration to actualize a better Imo.

He maintained that a democratically elected chairman of Transition
Committee Chairmen, what remain paramount is that all are Imo
citizens.

He therefore called on all Imolites to rally round his administration
to move the state forward.
