Uduaghan, Party Leaders Meet To Ensure Hitch-Free Congresses

Ahead of the congresses and national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which commences this weekend, the party in Delta State met yesterday (28-02-2012) to ensure that the exercise was devoid of acrimony among members.

At a well attended enlarge meeting of the party leaders in the State held in Warri, at the behest of the State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, members resolved to put their differences behind and chose the party leaders at all levels without rancor and bitterness.

Addressing members including those who returned to the party recently, Governor Uduaghan said that the national leadership of the party had fixed this Saturday and the subsequent ones for the ward, the local government and the State congresses while the national convention comes up on March 24, 2012.

He said that the party has decided to compile a list of it’s leaders starting from ward level to ensure a hitch-free congress and national convention and appealed for the inclusion of all party interests including the returnees.

Besides, he informed party members that meetings would be held at the senatorial district level to finalise the list the list of the leaders before the conduct of the congresses.

Governor Uduaghan advised members to start the quest for leadership at the ward level as that was the only way the party can guard against destabilizing factors.

The State chairman of PDP, Chief Peter Nwoboshi, said that he was happy at the turn out of members particularly those who earlier decamped from the party,  noting that the development was an indication that peace has fully returned to the party.

He recalled that reconciliatory meetings had taken place in Asaba where aggrieved party members were wooed back adding that efforts were still on to get others yet to be reconciled back to the PDP fold.

Nwoboshi commended Governor Uduaghan for the reconciliatory efforts that have made the party stronger in the State.

The Governor and Nwoboshi had earlier met with party chairmen at the local government level where the need to carry everyone along was stressed.

A minute silence was observed for the party chairman in charge of Delta North senatorial district Chief Ben Obuh who died recently.
